What is 7,8-Dihydroxyflavone?
7,8-Dihydroxyflavone (7,8-DHF) is a flavonoid compound. Due to screening studies, small molecules with neurotrophic properties similar to brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF) have been gradually recognized recently. In this study, it was found that 7,8-DHF is an effective activator of the BDNF signaling pathway, preventing neuronal cell apoptosis in vitro and showing effective neuroprotection in a mouse model. The neurotrophic properties of 7,8-DHF are highly dependent on the 7,8-catechol fragment of the molecule.
7,8-DHF is the first flavonoid discovered, trying to find small neurotrophic molecules with similar properties to BDNF in vitro. Studies on cultured cells and mice indicate that it may have an effective protective effect.
Function
1. Regulate endocrine, increase estrogen levels, and relieve menopausal symptoms.
2. Inhibit the accumulation of centripetal fat, reduce waist circumference and weight, and maintain a slim body.
3. Enhance the strength of bones and ligaments, prevent osteoporosis and fractures.
4. Improve brain function, improve learning and memory ability, and prevent Alzheimer’s.
5. Regulate mood and prevent depression.
Application / dosage:
There are currently no human studies on 7,8-DHF to take human doses from, with all estimates being mathematically approximated from rodent research. The majority of rodent research does use intravenous injections however, with limited studies using oral ingestion.
Oral ingestion does appear to have effects, with rat studies noting:
5mg/kg being effective in the cognitively unwell mouse (chronic usage)
10mg/kg being effective in the cognitively well rat (subchronic use)
30mg/kg in the mouse being acutely effective
This is approximately 1mg/kg for subchronic or chronic usage in humans, with the acute dose correlating to approximately 2.5mg/kg.
In case of any adverse effects, seek medical attention immediately.
